Problem

  • Avoidant Conflict Style > Tends to avoid disputes and separates herself from potential conflicts

  • Not effective in managing team and external parties > Led to problems such as

    • Unfair labour distribution

    • Feelings of resentment among team members

    • Late responses from partners

    • Poor quality of work

Action

  • Upon feedback from team members > Develop more assertiveness during discussions

  • Make use of effective communication tactics to resolve potential disputes quickly and ensure that Bubble Blocks remained steadfast in our terms with our partners

AUDREY

Problem

  • Experienced many hurdles in the planning stage > Allowed herself and the team to adopt the “just do what we can” mentality due to the feelings of dejection  

  • Lack of accountability in the work produced > Led to problems such as

    • Poor quality of work (gaps within action plan)

    • Lack of time management 

Action

  • Realised that the project is important to not only us, but also our stakeholders, so we need to have more commitment and accountability

    • ​Holding one another to account by identifying problems early and questioning one another

    • Take initiative to complete tasks

    • Willingness to do what must be done to succeed, building a sense of importance in the work done

DAMIEN

Problem

  • Ambitious but unconfident personality > Financial targets were difficult to set due to unrealistic expectations

  • Financial targets were being set based on instinct Led to problems such as​

    • Could not settle on a financial target due to the fear of being unable to meet it

    • Plucked numbers from the air (unreliable)

 

Action

  • After consulting our supervisor > Started to conclude numbers by calculating profits per unit of soap

    •  Taking note of the duration of the project

    •  Estimating the rate of sales per month

  • Became more realistic and confident as the financial goal was backed by objective reasoning rather than instincts

NATALIE

Problem​

  • Tend to be an individualist 

    • Shy away from relying on people even in a team setting

Action: 

  • Shared her worries with her team members at the beginning of the project due to overwhelming workload

    • Sofiya and Audrey did up a social media calendar for her to follow and plan posts out in advance​

  • Realised that she has reliable team members who supported her 

  • Became more comfortable with relying on others instead of taking an individualistic approach.

TYRA

Problem

  • Disliked taking too much time for decision-making

  • Overlooked details and facts; made rash decisions without consulting team or external parties

    • ​Wasted time, affected quality of work

    • ​​Led to frustration > Ended up blaming others for pitfalls

 

Action

  • Upon reflection and feedback from the team > Learned to be more patient and receptive of team members' input
